The Alamo Bowl, Steve Sarkisian, and the bigger picture: What’s at stake for the Huskies?
With yesterday being Christmas and all that could only really mean a couple things.
Probably means that all the college kids such as myself that have ventured home are stuffing their faces with actual home cooked meals.
When you dip into the sports realm, today signals the beginning of the lockout shortened NBA season. Of course, I’m from Seattle and I couldn’t care less about that particular sporting league.
Instead, today signals the fact that the Washington Huskies are four days away from hitting the field against Baylor in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Personally, this is most exciting since… Continue reading
Matt Barkley to return to USC for his senior season
Yesterday Matt Barkley decided that he was going back to USC to play his senior season, and chase the one and only bowl game victory that he’ll ever have in college. Barkley figured to be one of the top quarterbacks available in the 2012 NFL draft, and probably would have been taken in the first five picks of the draft. There is something to be said for a guy who wants to help carry on a proud tradition of elite success at his college program, but also something to be said for a guy who may have managed to screw Seattle twice in one fell swoop.
You see, without Barkley the Trojans were probably… Continue reading
Robert Griffin III could be a Seahawk, how have other future NFL QBs done against the Huskies?
Robert Griffin III will be playing against the Huskies, but it may not be his last time dealing with Seattle fans.
The Huskies will match up in the Alamo Bowl against the Baylor Bears, and their quarterback, Robert Griffin III, figures to be something of a commodity come April. There is a ton of other converage that we are going to do on NFL quarterbacks, but considering that he’s the fourth quarterback that the Huskies have faced who figure to be drafted (at least), it will be interesting to see how he stacks up.
This is how the other three have performed against the Huskies:
Andrew Luck, Stanford

Washington’s embattled Senior class has left their mark on the Husky program

That picture is Autzen Stadium in August 2008. I took to the road to see Washington’s season opener with naive expectations that the Huskies would be able to compete with the Ducks and that it would be a glorious beginning to a year that would culminate in bowl eligibility for the Huskies. A halftime 10-7 score had me brimming with optimism.
I ended up leaving the stadium midway through the second half.
For kids like Jermaine Kearse, Senio Kelemente, Chris Polk, and Alameda Ta’amu, kids that are now household names for Husky fans, this was the start of Husky careers that will come full circle at CenturyLink field tomorrow.
The class of… Continue reading

Let’s talk about Keith Price
There’s a saying in football. The back-up quarterback is usually the most popular player on the team.
What’s up, Nick Montana?
Dubbed Savior 2.0. The next generation after Locker. Nick Montana was supposed to be the kid who makes us forget about the whole Jake Heaps forsaking the home town team thing.
The Huskies are a perfect 2-0 without Jake Locker, but it’s not because of the Son of Joe.
Meet Keith Price, the starting quarterback for your University of Washington Huskies.
Everything about Keith Price’s Washington career has thus far been pretty unceremonious.
417 yards and 7 touchdowns and two wins in his first two games as ‘the’ starter of the Washington Huskies might not even be enough to change that quickly. But… Continue reading
Let’s be real: Eastern Washington has no chance against the Huskies
Eastern Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell sure likes to talk the talk.
“They are picking this game for a reason,” the FCS national champion quarterback told Dave Softy Mahler on KJR 950 AM. “They want to come in and get an easy win to start the season out, and I know how that is… (Washington will) just prepare differently. And we are going to take full advantage of that and just try to come out and smack them in the mouth.”
I’m glad he thinks this. Levi has won a lot of football games for the Eagles because he has that kind of mentality. This is probably the same mentality that the divine and holy savior Jake Locker had in so many games in which the Huskies themselves were hopelessly outmatched, albeit… Continue reading
A look down memory lane: How UW’s class of 2007 panned out
National signing day might as well be a Holiday. And around these parts, Steve Sarkisian just might be Santa Claus.
But he’s not dropping down your chimney and leaving you presents.
Instead, in exchange for your milk and cookies Sark is delivering the Husky faithful…athletes. Lean, mean, football playing machines.
Oh and signing day 2011 was a good one. According to the three major online recruiting services, Scout, Rivals and ESPNU, the Huskies reeled in a Top 25 class. In a majority of cases, that is correlated with wins down the road.
Husky Nation must have been on good behavior.
But in years past Dawg fans must have been naughty, because past UW coaches delivered coal on signing day more often than not. How else… Continue reading
Washington Huskies’ promised land is right around the corner
We’ve spent all year trying to figure out who this Washington team was.
After a mind numbing loss to BYU in the opener we were all of a sudden questioning the heart of our Heisman contending quarterback.
After a humbling loss to Nebraska, we were wondering if this team was any good.
After a last second victory against USC all of a sudden our hope was renewed, and we developed a trend with our Cardiac dawgs.
After a thrilling OT win against Oregon State the trend continued. Maybe, just maybe, we were comfortable with our Huskies.
After three blowout losses in a row to the top three teams in the Conference we were once again humbled and threw into panic mode. Locker was hurt and… Continue reading
Decision to rest Locker couldn’t come soon enough
Suit up Mr. Keith Price. This is why you came to Washington. Your time is now.
Well, for at least a week.
After two weeks of a stagnant, quite pathetic, Husky offense, Sarkisian has drawn the line. Jake Locker is sitting.
Wait, what? Locker benched? Well, not quite.
The tipping point is because of the rib injuries that Locker has sustained over the course of the last month. It’s been revealed that what started off a ‘bruise’ or ‘hairline fracture’ of the ribs suffered against Oregon State, has progressed into full on cracked ribs after getting rocked by the Stanford Cardinal.
Insult to injury after he was stagnated against Arizona State four weeks ago with a thigh bruise.
The evidence of these injuries has… Continue reading
