Obafemi Martin’s first half header paved the way for the Seattle Sounders 3-0 victory. My guess is that the new DP, CLINT FREAKING DEMPSEY was impressed.
Let me give you a second for the shock to set in — yes, I am in fact writing an overview.
Now that you have settled down I’ll keep things simple for tonight. Seattle Sounders FC looked like a very good team tonight, while their opponents, FC Dallas, looked like a very bad side.
That lead to the Rave Green’s 3-0 victory (Tacos and haircuts for those unfamiliar with the term) at CenturyLink Field — extending their home unbeaten streak to a franchise-best 10 straight.
Following the “special announcement” that CLINT FREAKING DEMPSEY is now the Sounders third Designated Player, the boys in green put two goals by the high-line defense of Dallas within the first 25 minutes, courtesy of Obafemi Martins and Eddie Johnson — in that order.
From there on, it was a strong showing of the Sounders defense, coupled with the leadership of keeper, Marcus Hahnemann — who was making his first MLS start since I believe 1996.
The home side added on a late goal via a Brad Evans PK in added time after Lamar Neagle was shoved to the ground, quite dumbassedily if you will, but Dallas midfield maestro David Ferreira.
The energy in the Clink seemed to be nothing short of electric tonight — I watched at home in Yakima, so I’m guessing — which more than likely contributed to the two early goals.
Tomorrow though is when I will really dive into this team, given that my boss so nicely gave me the day off. The CLINT FREAKING DEMPSEY addition is nothing short of amazing, now it’s time to analyze how it will work and who will be sacrificed to the bench gods in his place come Sunday, August 25 at home against Portscum — Dempsey’s first match with the side.
CLINT FREAKING DEMPSEY, ladies and gentlemen.
