Seattle’s biggest Johnson took only 14 seconds to score Sunday — quick and effective.
After being called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team for the knockout stages of the CONCACAF Gold Cup by coach Jurgen Klinsmann last week, Seattle Sounders FC forward Eddie Johnson didn’t waste any time after being subbed on for the POS that is Chris Wondowolowskizk (or something like that) in the 59th minute of the Stars and Stripes 5-1 demolition of El Salvador in the tournament quarterfinals.
Although many Sounders fans, myself included, were not only confused but kinds ticked off that EJ didn’t start the match after being called up — his immediate impact followed by an assist on the next goal and several other chances showed that he may be returning into form at just the time the Sounders need him to.
Johnson will likely miss Sunday’s affair at home against Chivas USA with the hope that the U.S. will be playing either Mexico or Panama *fingers crossed* for the Gold Cup title.
Until then though, just keep watching the clip of the blonde guy in the red and while hoops.
