6-1, 206 lbs, 20 years old

Bats: Left, Throws: Left

Acquired: International Signing (2009)

2012 Ranking: 11th

Pimentel came in as one of the top international prospects, and one of the unspoken hallmarks of the Jack Zduriencik era. After posting a .201 ISO in rookie ball as a 17 year old, Pimentel began to turn the heads of some prospect analysts. In the past two seasons his power has declined without a major promotion, and his strikeouts have stayed dangerously close to 30 percent, while his walks have remained low. A low-contact, mediocre-power, low-walk profile doesn’t make for a very good big leaguer, but hope reigns supreme as Pimentel has  massive potential, if only he can harness it.
