Ozzie honored — Sounders mid named to MLS Best XI

It’s about damn time.

That’s all that really needs to be said now that Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso has been named to Major League Soccer’s Best XI for 2012.

Ozzie has become that player around the league in his time with Seattle that has always been forgotten, undervalued and ignored — yet when you ask fans of any club they say that his talent is far supperior than “equal” players like Kyle Beckerman from Real Salt Lake.

“I think I did a good job this year, playing for my team,” Alonso said.  “Being an All-Star and now the Best XI, I’m feeling so happy and I enjoy this moment.”

Alonso is the only Sounder to make this list as Sporting Kansas City’s Jimmy Nielsen took the top goal keeper slot which you’d have to imagine Michael Gspurning was in the running for.

Ozzie is a talent that is rare to find in this game worldwide and even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, having Ozzie in Rave Green is something to be thankful for every day.

Here’s the rest of the MLS Best XI. Be sure to check back later this week for the rest of the MLS end of season award announcements including MLS Comeback POY (Eddie Johnson is nominated), Goalkeeper of the Year and Newcomer of the Year (Gspurning is nominated for both).
