Seattle Mariners Game 16: vs. Chicago White Sox

Chris Sale dominated the Mariners last night. Philip Humber should dominate them less tonight. Sale missed 19 bats and threw 21 more called strikes. Philip Humber won’t do that. Free John Jaso.

RHP Blake Beavan (4.72 xFIP in 13.1 IP) vs. RHP Philip Humber (3.02 xFIP in 5.1 IP)

Beavan and Humber have similar pasts. They both used to be kind of top prospects. Now they are both in the bigs with teams that didn’t draft them. Humber had a very good year last year after bouncing around from organization to organization. Humber fixed his walk problem last year, averaging only 2.26 BB/9, and rode a lucky BABIP to 3.5 WAR. Beavan is a guy who is considered evidence that Sabermetrics don’t matter and that results rule everything. Blake Beavan is wrong for being that.
