Matt Flynn has become quite the focal point of the Seahawks offseason. He was drafted by Green Bay while John Schneider was with the team, and in the two opportunities he’s had to play extended time he’s been very successful. The Packers have elected against franchising their highly-sought-after backup. I predicted that the Packers would franchise Flynn, and was further convinced of the matter when the team reached an agreement on an extension with would-be free agent Jermichael Finley.
Flynn figures to be the most sought after unrestricted free agent quarterback since Drew Brees signed with the Saints, what has gone down as perhaps the best free agent signing ever. I think that the Dolphins have the upper hand both in terms of intimate knowledge of Flynn’s skills, as well as provincial advantage and an advantage due to Flynn’s familiarity with the staff.
