On the whole Seattle Arena thing

There is some pretty exciting news coming out of Seattle, as Chris Hansen will reveal his plan for a Seattle arena tomorrow. I don’t know a ton about the particulars of his plan. I don’t know how many people do. I am not thrilled about the idea of taking the Kings away from Sacramento either. Though I have no qualms about taking the Phoenix Coyotes away.

It’s not that I like hockey more than basketball. I love basketball. I’ve become a hockey fan basically since the Thunderbirds moved to the ShoWare center. But the Coyotes have been in Phoenix since 1996. The Kings have been in Sacramento since 1985. Maybe it is because my entire life has seen the Kings in Sacramento. Maybe it is because Arizona has the Suns, Diamondbacks, and Cardinals also. I don’t know. I don’t really want the Hornets either. I am not excited about either team. I’d rather have the Hornets than the Kings though. I’d rather have the Raptors or Bobcats than either team. Because, well, Fuck Charlotte. You’ve had your chance twice, and ruined it twice. And Toronto, well… blame Canada.

The real point of this rambling post is that I am not going to do much worrying or speculating about the arena until after the press conference tomorrow. Hopefully we get good news. I’m cautiously optimistic. I was cautiously optimist when I heard Greg Nickels sorry ass come out and hold a press conference announcing he’d sold the Sonics down the river though.

We don’t make news, we analyze it. Sure we speculate, but there isn’t a ton of public information on this one. When more information comes out hopefully I can get all hands on deck to help analyze. At least we know that Brad Colyer is a huge NHL fan, so he can start writing no articles about two sports!
