For what it’s Worth on Prince Fielder

There doesn’t seem to be a huge uproar over the Mariners not waiting an entire offseason to miss out on Prince Fielder. The team traded Michael Pineda for Jesus Montero. But this an interesting spray chart of Prince Fielder’s home runs from Hit Tracker Online.

A huge chunk of Fielder’s homers last year weren’t pulled. Of all the advantages anyone has in Safeco Field, maybe behind the advantages left-handed pitchers have, is the advantage left-handed hitters have.

Prince Fielder may not have taken full advantage of his handedness if he signed with the Mariners. Some of his home runs would certainly still be home runs. Some of them wouldn’t have. Probably not worth high-level analysis, but worth noting.
