2012 Seahawks QB Candidates: Tarvaris Jackson

Tarvaris Jackson, Seattle Seahawks

6-2, 226 Lbs

2012 Age: 29 years old

Tarvaris Jackson is a really good backup quarterback. That is all.

What we like:

Strong arm

Very mobile

Very tough, played through injuries much of 2011

Has played most of his career under Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell

Coming off best season of his career

Cost controlled

What we don’t like:

Erratic accuracy

Locks onto receivers, doesn’t progress through reads fast enough

Pocket presence could be better

Leads receivers into big hits

Though decision making has improved, still below-average

Summary:

Tarvaris Jackson has been a very pleasant surprise for Seahawks fans. His name has been associated with sub-mediocre play for his entire career, and he was much better than anyone expected this year. That said, Jackson is probably not going to be the deciding factor between present day mediocrity and a championship contender, though his age probably works to understate his remaining potential.

KramdawgSeanKramdawgSean: Oh. Because Steve Sarkisian is one of the best quarterbacks coaches in the World. Makes sense. Two heisman winners, 4 first round picks.

KramdawgSeanKramdawgSean: It is starting to look like Keith Price is certainly not going to go under the radar. What the hell is it with Sarkisian QBs and NFL hype?
